Let the Move Begin

So, you've broken the news to your familia and your loved ones. Now it's time to get the show on the road!!! However, with such a big task, the hardest thing is to figure out where to begin! Here are a few tips to spare you and your favorite moving company favorite moving company any tears on move day.

1. Know if you're going to complete your move or have us do it for you. Making this decision 2 months prior to move date can save stress and dinero. With Summer here, dates are full weeks in advance. EARLIER = BETTER (Unlike flying there are no last minute deals in moving)

2. Set up a budget. No matter if you have "no budget" on this move. There should always be a budget! Spending money carelessly is no longer attractive in '09! Budget includes your packing materials!

3. When to start on packing. Careful not to start to close to your move date. For an average 3 bedroom house, then you want to start your packing about 4 weeks prior to the move date. Packing takes up the most time, and usually when people decide that it's a job too big for them to handle on their own. If so, you're still ahead of the curve and are likely to get the day you requested for your move. As well, use our next blog to help you decide how many boxes you will need for your home.

Humpty Dumpty

All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put Humpty back together again. So, frankly Humpty had a horrible day! However, All My Son's of San Antonio happens to be an experienced San Antonio mover, and we have touched and moved any and all fragile items imaginable. As your favorite San Antonio mover, we recognized the importance to share a few of our not-so-secret packing tips with you. Just follow these simple rules and Humpty Dumpty might just call you clairvoyant, for escaping the inevitable.

Line your box
with some kind of packing material that will not only reinforce the box, but will also protect the bottom and sides of items going inside. (ie: foam, bubble wrap, etc.)

Pack smaller and fragile items inside of a box fitting to your items, then compile the smaller boxes inside of a much larger box.

Wrap all fragile items in newsprint several times. For extra fragile pieces line them once more in bubble wrap. (ie: stemware, china and antiques.

Mark which side is up and FRAGILE! So, we know to march each box fragile, however if everything is packed securely, it can be hard to tell where the bottom is at.

These are just a few of the tips that your local San Antonio movers always apply whenever we have a packing job to take care of!
